Parker Knoll chair with original cover

Parker Knoll chair with original cover

I spotted this little wing back chair in a house clearance sale a number of years ago. Whilst looking round the shop I kept going back to the corner where it was sitting, looking a bit beaten up and unloved with its tired brown fabric. In spite of this I loved its retro styling and the way its sweeping curves seemed so inviting. I picked up the chair for next to nothing and it has been in the living room ever since primarily being jumped and climbed on by small children. I always thought it would look amazing recovered in a beautiful fabric and when we finally redecorated the living room last year the time had definitely come. I had come across "Ascent" fabric from Harlequin's Momentum collection a while back whilst looking for furniture for a customer. It was decadent and had a lovely and sheen, it also came in some really rich colours. I knew when I saw it, it was "the one". It took a while to choose the colour but the teal was just stunning and probably the most enduring. I sent the chair off and the fabric last week and yesterday it came back. When the upholsterer called to say it was ready, he told me that when they stripped back the chair they discovered it was a late 1950's / early 60's Parker Knoll which makes the chair even more special! I am so pleased with the results, I now have a beautiful old/new one off piece of furniture which I love and will last for many more years to come. Who needs to buy new when you can get results like this from furniture seemingly ready for the skip! :-)
